Budanov does not rule out "Ukrainian scenario" for Armenia: What Russia might be planning
The head of the Office of the President believes the key question is whether Russia will succeed in fracturing Armenian society to pave the way for further actions.
Kyrylo Budanov
Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President, believes it is entirely realistic that Russia might attempt to use tactics against Armenia similar to those it deployed against Ukraine.
He made the statement during the "Security Architecture" international forum, as reported by a TSN.ua correspondent.
According to Budanov, such signals from Russia began surfacing about two years ago.
"Similar signals began two years ago. In my personal view, this is absolutely realistic," said the head of the Presidential Office.
At the same time, Budanov stressed that Moscow's ability to influence the internal situation in Armenia and split its society remains a critical factor.
"Whether they can divide society in order to justify further actions is a debatable question. I don't know. I hope they won't be able to," he said.
The head of the Office of the President also expressed doubt over whether the international community is prepared to react decisively to potential threats facing Armenia.
