Romania denies the crash of Russian “Shahed” drones on its territory, presumably out of fear. In this way, Bucharest is showing weakness.

This opinion was expressed by military-political analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko, as reported in an article by "RBC-Ukraine."

According to Kovalenko, after the fall of Russian drones on the territory of Romania, tougher words were expected from Bucharest, but they showed a frankly spineless position.

This doesn't mean they should declare war or invoke Article 5 of the NATO collective security treaty. It means that Romania should firmly declare its objection to the use of its airspace for strikes against Ukraine," the expert stated.

He explained that Ukraine cannot shoot down such objects on foreign territory. If the UAVs fell on the territory of Romania, they were in the Romanian sky for a while.

"What does this indicate? It indicates that Romania, having such a precedent, showed weakness. It surprises me, because there's nothing for them to fear. What would Russia do? Launch a missile strike on Bucharest? Certainly not. But our neighbors first don't acknowledge that missiles enter their airspace, and now they don't acknowledge the “Shaheds,” despite the evidence. It all looks not funny but very sad," Kovalenko assessed.
