"Dark times" ahead for Ukrainians: Military officer warns what to expect

Ukraine faces another difficult heating season due to the risk of strikes by occupying forces.

Ukrainians should prepare for any scenario this winter, including possible blackouts.

This was stated on air of “Kyiv Time” by Yuriy Fedorenko, Commander of the 429th Separate "Achilles" Regiment of Unmanned Systems.

He noted that Russian attacks on energy infrastructure are inevitable.

“We will not manage to cover the entire sky. Missiles will get through, and unfortunately, so will Shaheds. We must work on shelters and hideouts at all levels — legislative and municipal. Shelters must be serviced, because anything left without oversight begins to be used by antisocial elements of the population,” he said.

“We must rely on ourselves and on each other,” Fedorenko added.

“As for blackouts, if the awareness of Ukrainian society is at a high level, we will be able to close most of the Ukrainian sky and avoid falling into blackout. If not, then of course generators, batteries, flashlights, burners. We always prepare for the worst-case scenario,” the officer stressed.
