Darnytska Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Kyiv was heavily damaged during the night of 3 February following the large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and has temporarily gone offline.
Euro-Reconstruction, the company that owns the plant, reported damage to the strategic facility.
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said the station is dedicated to producing heat for residents. He added that a restoration plan has been drawn up, but returning the TPP to full operation will take a significant amount of time.
«Darnytska TPP, which was solely dedicated to producing heat for the population, has suffered severe damage. This is a Russian war crime, ” Shmyhal said.
Euro-Reconstruction said technical inspections were ongoing at the Darnytska TPP site. Plant specialists, together with relevant authorities, are working to repair the damage from the attack. The company emphasized that equipment will be restored in stages, following a detailed inspection of each unit.
