«This was specifically America’s proposal»: Zelenskyy addresses Trump

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects a response from the United States and personally from Donald Trump over Russia’s violation of the energy truce and today’s massive air strike.

The Head of State said this in his traditional evening video address on February 3.

«We expect a response from the United States of America to the Russian strikes. This was specifically America’s proposal: during diplomacy and such cold winter weather to halt strikes on the energy sector. There was a request personally from the President of the United States, ” Zelenskyy reminded.

He stressed that Russia responded to Trump’s request with a record ballistic strike, and the energy truce lasted less than four days out of the week that had been requested of Moscow.

«This shows what Russia promises or might promise. If their word fails now, what can be expected later?» the president asked rhetorically.

Zelenskyy recalled that Russia had deceived even before the full-scale invasion.

«They lied before this war, and Russia began the full-scale conflict by trying to mislead everyone about its intentions and about Ukraine. Now—even in such details, in such agreements with America—there is Russian deception again. Moscow is incorrigible. They want to use the cold, because they cannot break Ukraine with their assaults. Russia’s bet on war must receive an answer from the world, ” he concluded.
