How Ukraine can stop Russian ballistic missiles: Expert proposes radical plan

Ukraine needs serial production of its own missiles to destroy Russia’s military-industrial complex, Mykhailo Samus says.

Ukraine should shift to systematic large-scale attacks on Russian factories producing ballistic missiles, Mykhailo Samus, director of the New Geopolitics Research Network, said on Radio NV.

Missile shortage challenge

Samus says global stocks of interceptor missiles for Patriot (PAC-3) and THAAD systems are being depleted as they are widely used, including in the Middle East.

Given the inevitable shortage of air-defense missiles, the only effective solution for Ukraine would be to destroy missile production facilities on Russian territory.

«What should we do if mathematically we will definitely face a shortage of missiles capable of intercepting ballistic targets? My answer is clear — systematic missile strikes. Not drone strikes. Massive missile strikes against any elements of ballistic missile production, ” Samus said.

How to counter Russian weapons production

The expert said stopping production of complex weapons such as the Iskander-M requires attacks not only on assembly plants but also enterprises in the chemical and microelectronics industries:

  • Plants such as Kremniy El: supply critically important electronic components.

  • Chemical plants: produce components for solid fuel.

  • Votkinsk Plant: one of the key enterprises of Russia’s missile industry.

Mykhailo Samus explains that without fuel or specialized microchips the production process stops physically, even if finished missile bodies remain in storage.

At present, Western missiles such as Storm Shadow and Scalp are mainly used for such operations. However, Samus stresses the critical importance of launching mass serial production of Ukraine’s own missile systems.

«It is essential to move to serial production of missile technology — both ballistic and cruise — and strike Russia on a large scale, ” he said.

The expert also mentioned expectations for ballistic missiles from Ukrainian manufacturers and projects such as Fire Point (Flamingo missiles) and Long Neptune, which could become the basis for the systematic destruction of Russia’s defense industry.
