Lukashenko inspects his army: Is there a threat to Ukraine? SSU colonel responds
Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and MP Roman Kostenko has assessed whether Ukraine should expect a new offensive from Belarus.
Lukashenko orders military inspection: what’s really happening on Ukraine’s northern border
Belarus’s self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko has ordered an urgent inspection of his country’s military readiness. It’s far from the first time in more than three years of Russia’s full-scale war that Putin’s puppet has rattled sabers along Ukraine’s northern border, seeking to unnerve Ukrainians.
So, is there a threat this time around? People’s deputy and Verkhovna Rada Defense Committee secretary, SSU colonel Roman Kostenko, spoke about the situation on 24 Kanal.
According to him, such maneuvers by Lukashenko mean Ukraine must keep its northern forces on alert — even without direct signs of an impending attack.
«We must also place our troops covering the border with Belarus on full combat readiness, ” the MP stated.
At the same time, Kostenko noted that Ukrainian intelligence currently has no evidence that the Belarusian army is preparing to invade.
«There is no information suggesting that the Belarusian army is ready to cross the border. But we understand that intentions can change — anything is possible, ” Kostenko reassured.
He also reminded that Russian troops and military bases remain stationed in Belarus — the same ones that were previously used to launch strikes against Ukraine.
