For the occupiers, the “Oreshnik” missile is valuable primarily as a powerful psychological factor, an expert said.

Its use is intended to intimidate civilians and increase pressure on the international community.
Speaking on Espreso TV during the programme Ukrainian Focus. Morning on Slawa.TV and Espreso, military expert Ivan Tymochko said the missile is important to the enemy mainly as a psychological weapon. The Kremlin hopes that showcasing such missiles will fuel fear and uncertainty in Europe and Ukraine.
“The strike on Lviv region is more of a psychological signal than a strategic military action. After this, Russia will launch a large-scale information campaign to intimidate European partners, especially amid discussions about deploying European troops in Ukraine following possible peace agreements,” the expert said.
He added that such actions by the Kremlin are an attempt to send a clear signal to Europe of Russia’s readiness to respond to potential military steps on Ukrainian territory. The main goal of launching the “Oreshnik” missile, he notes, is not the destruction of specific targets.
