A security guarantees agreement with the United States is ready to be signed at the highest level, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address on Thursday, January 8.
The Ukrainian leader added that the Ukrainian negotiating team, led by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, is returning to Ukraine after meetings with US and European teams.
«I am expecting a report with all the details, including those that cannot be discussed over the phone, ” he said.
Zelenskyy noted an important outcome of the talks was that documents on Ukraine’s recovery and economic development were discussed in a trilateral format.
He also said Ukraine’s negotiating team had worked in a highly substantive manner with U.S. and European partners on «the main political document.»
«And from our side there is full constructiveness. The U.S. team must receive a response from Russia — what it is ready to do and whether it can truly end the war, ” the president said.
Zelenskyy added that only pressure on the aggressor state could force it to decide to end the war.
