After heavy Russian shelling and a large-scale blackout, Dnipro faces a national-level emergency.

City Mayor Borys Filatov made the statement.

“From a purely technical standpoint, the situation in Dnipro is one of the most difficult. This is truly a national-level emergency,” the mayor said.

According to him, electricity is gradually being restored to medical facilities, which until now had been operating using alternative power sources.

Sewage systems in the city have also been restored. The mayor emphasized that the left bank of Dnipro is being supported by alternative power sources, while water supply on the right bank is gradually returning to normal.

“All heating plants were disconnected yesterday. We are making every effort to restore them now,” the mayor noted.

Buses are operating in the regional center to substitute for electric transport, and the city has fuel reserves to last several days.

In Dnipro, kindergartens are running duty groups for four hours, and schools have extended the winter break until January 11.

DTEK added that 800,000 households in Dnipropetrovsk region remain temporarily without electricity after the attacks. Energy crews across the region are working continuously to restore power, and some of the critical infrastructure has already been reconnected.
