Since the beginning of March, Ukraine has recorded 18 attacks on railway infrastructure, with rolling stock being the primary target. The enemy is using drones to destroy carriages, locomotives, bridges, and depots, aiming to disrupt transport links.

This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

“Since the beginning of March, 18 strikes have already been recorded — an average of six per day. The terrorist country is using UAVs and FPV drones for these attacks,” the statement said.

Since the start of the month, 41 railway facilities have been damaged. Rolling stock has been a key target, with 17 units affected, and passenger carriages have also been hit.

On the morning of March 4 in Mykolaiv, a Russian drone struck a passenger carriage. Ukrzaliznytsia’s monitoring team detected the drone in the air in time and evacuated people. There were no fatalities, though a train inspector was wounded.

Locomotives, freight wagons, and specialized infrastructure-repair equipment have also been targeted. This month, strikes have also hit railway depots and bridges, with the highest number of attacks recorded near the front line.

Despite the attacks, Ukrzaliznytsia, working with the military, continues to monitor airspace along train routes. Railway personnel promptly adjust schedules, evacuate passengers, and take other safety measures when threats arise.

“It is important for us to maintain connections with frontline regions. This ensures logistics for residents and allows evacuation to safer areas of Ukraine. Operations continue,” the company said.
