Russia modifies Shaheds: What has changed

Russian forces have moved the CRPA antennas inside Shahed drones, positioning them centrally.

Recently, drone interceptor pilots have reported seeing Shaheds flying without CRPA antennas. There is a simple explanation for this.

Electronic warfare and communications specialist, and Head of the Center for Radiotechnologies, Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, wrote about this.

According to “Flash,” numerous speculative theories have emerged around the issue.

“But its simpler — the Russians removed the CRPA antennas from the wings and relocated them inside the Shahed, placing them in the centre. What does this tell an observant and intelligent person? That the factory has modified the Shahed’s body to accommodate specific Chinese antennas,” he explained.

Therefore, “Flash” continues, this means Russia is confident that its cooperation with China will remain stable and long-term.

“Such antennas cannot be suppressed by our existing electronic warfare systems across the entire country. For now, we can only protect key national facilities,” Beskrestnov said.
