Russia systematically destroys railway hubs

Since July, Russian forces have escalated a wave of massive attacks on Ukraine’s major railway junctions.

This was reported by the CEO of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, in a comment to Ukrinform.

According to him, Russia has been attacking railway infrastructure since 2022, but from July 2025 these attacks have intensified and become systematic.

Among the most actively targeted are critical junctions such as Lozova (Kharkiv region), Synelnykove (Dnipropetrovsk region), and Koziatyn (Vinnytsia region).

“Practically across the country, they strike at railway hubs. These are complex attacks hitting power substations, locomotive depots, and passenger stations. The enemy’s goal is essentially to destroy the hub,” Pertsovskyi added.

He says that even when key junctions are under attack, Ukrzaliznytsia does not cancel trains.

“We find ways to adjust schedules, but the trains always run. Ukrainians notice this and thank railway workers for their resilience,” the CEO of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia concluded.
