On the evening of Wednesday, August 6, the Russian occupying army shelled the city of Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region with artillery. As a result of a direct hit on a State Emergency Service vehicle, a 23-year-old rescuer was killed.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service, which also published photos from the scene of the shelling.

The rescuers came under artillery fire while surveying the area following a previous attack. One of them — 23-year-old Senior Lieutenant of the Civil Protection Service Danylo Khyzhniak — sustained injuries incompatible with life.

In total, three people were killed in Nikopol due to the shelling. Alongside the rescuer, two civilians also lost their lives.
