Slovakia is officially stopping emergency support for Ukraine’s energy system, although this will in no way affect electricity supplies to Ukrainian households.

This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo.

Ukrenergo said it had received the relevant official letter from the Slovak transmission system operator SEPS only several weeks after similar intentions had begun to be voiced publicly. The agreement on mutual emergency support will finally cease to be valid in May.

«The reasons why our colleagues are cancelling the agreement have not been explained by the SEPS leadership. For its part, NPC Ukrenergo has never committed any violations of the contractual terms with SEPS, acting in the spirit of good neighbourliness and respect for European legislation, ” the company said.

They also assured that the decision will not have negative consequences for ordinary consumers. Emergency assistance from Slovakia was used extremely rarely, with the last such case occurring in January. In addition, commercial electricity imports will continue as usual: companies will still be able to buy Slovak electricity at auctions without any restrictions.
