Development of missile weapons and long-range artillery is a strategic priority for Ukraine, which in the future should become a guarantor of the security of its borders.

This was stated by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi in an interview with “24 Kanal”.

Missile shield as strategic deterrent

The Commander-in-Chief stressed that this branch of the armed forces plays a decisive role in the current confrontation and in shaping a future system to deter the aggressor.

“Our missile forces and long-range artillery are showing very strong results. Missile forces are a deterrent factor that in the future will prevent any enemy from encroaching on our territory,” Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized.

According to him, the effective use of such weapons during combat operations allows Ukraine “to inflict maximum damage on the enemy, leaving it no capability to continue offensive operations.”

Armed Forces technological upgrade for 2026

Speaking about plans for the coming years, Syrskyi said the military’s primary mission remains the defence of territory and borders, but warfare methods must be continuously modernised and shifted to new technological tracks.

“If we look at the key directions, this means further development, improved effectiveness, continued advancement of command-and-control systems, as well as increased automation, digitalisation and robotisation,” the Commander-in-Chief said.

Oleksandr Syrskyi concluded that the combination of modern command systems, digital solutions and powerful missile forces will provide the Armed Forces with the necessary advantage on the battlefield and enable reliable long-term defence of the country.
