Overnight on April 19, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Chernihiv, killing a 16-year-old boy, according to Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration.

“The overnight strike on the city damaged seven private residences, three of which were consumed by fire, alongside an administrative building, an educational facility, and two vehicles. One fatality was confirmed—a 16-year-old male. Four others sustained injuries: three women and one man,” Bryzhynskyi stated.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, confirmed that rescuers extracted the boy’s body from beneath the rubble.

“The city has suffered significant destruction. A lyceum and private homes were damaged. Impacts were recorded at an industrial site and a medical facility—the latter was non-operational, having been effectively decimated by Russian forces in 2022. Firefighters have since extinguished the blazes at the strike locations. All emergency services remain fully engaged,” Chaus wrote.
