Ukraine has received part of the Patriot missiles promised under Ramstein agreements, but details remain undisclosed to prevent Russia from exploiting them.
This was stated during a joint media appearance by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Romanian President Nicușor Dan.
Zelenskyy cautioned against disclosing too much information about the Patriot missiles.
Over 800 missiles in the first days of the Middle East conflict
Zelenskyy commented on the use of more than 800 missiles in the Middle East in just 24–36 hours.
«Ukraine has never had such a package of missiles throughout all the years of war. Altogether, it was nowhere close. I am not complaining, I am pointing to something else. After this, they made a request to Ukraine. Why? Because 800 or 1,000 missiles will not help when hundreds of „Shaheds“ are flying, ” the head of state explained.
The Ukrainian leader stressed that it is costly product: «A single missile costs $3–4 million, while a „Shahed“ drone is only $130–150,000. You cannot just make a straightforward calculation, ” Zelenskyy said.
«Even wealthy Middle Eastern countries cannot keep up. The United States, the biggest producer of Patriot missiles, makes only 60–65 per month. That means any country’s reserves will eventually be exhausted. However many missiles you have, it won’t be enough against Iranian „Shaheds“. And the Russians are clearly assisting them — world intelligence has already confirmed this, ” the president said.
Zelenskyy concluded that Ukraine’s unique experience in fighting «Shaheds» is unique, and it will work.
