Ukraine must drive toward total automation of combat operations, systematically replacing boots on the ground with robotic systems.

This vision was outlined by Ihor Lutsenko — public figure, journalist, and an aerial reconnaissance officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — during a broadcast on Kyiv 24.

According to Lutsenko, cutting-edge tech is already unlocking capabilities that could fundamentally reshape the nature of war. He noted that if current developments are fully deployed, the demand for traditional infantry could be significantly reduced or even disappear.

The expert emphasizes that the synergy of satellite communications, UAVs, and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) is forging a new blueprint for warfare. While total human withdrawal from the battlefield is not yet feasible, our country must aggressively pursue a technological edge.

«Phasing out infantry entirely is currently impossible—they are the ones holding the line. However, we must strive for tech that minimizes human exposure. If every automated system at our disposal were fully integrated and operational, the need for infantry would be drastically reduced,» Lutsenko stated.

He is convinced that advancing these solutions will either severely complicate the enemy’s offensives or render them entirely ineffective.
