Ukraine has imposed new sanctions on self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and his inner circle over the Belarusian regime’s direct involvement in Russian aggression.

The announcement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi during a briefing.

The ministry said the sanctions were imposed due to Belarus’s ongoing support for Russia in the war and its participation in war crimes. In addition to supplying resources to the Russian army, Lukashenko openly backs occupation administrations in Ukraine’s seized territories, violating international law, the ministry said.

Officials also highlighted a network of sites in Belarus that facilitate drone attacks, including on northern regions of Ukraine.

«Alexander Lukashenko and his regime are accomplices in the crime of aggression. They actively help Russia carry out this illegal war against Ukraine, providing components, resources, and in some cases direct weapons. They also provide infrastructure, ” Tykhyi said.

He added that Lukashenko’s contacts with occupation officials, attempts to establish economic ties with occupied regions, and the involvement of Belarusian officials in deporting Ukrainian children are unacceptable. Tykhyi noted that the motives for the sanctions had been previously commented by the president and foreign minister, stressing the importance of responding to every act of Belarusian support for Russia’s invasion.
