The Russian army massively uses Zircon hypersonic and Oreshnik ballistic missiles for internal terror to destabilize Ukrainian society, lacking battlefield success and showing no desire to end the war, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov said.

Russia strikes with Zircon-type hypersonic cruise missiles and Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles to influence the situation inside Ukraine and trigger negative social processes, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov said in an interview with LIGA.net.
«The missiles are used massively because Russia needs to somehow achieve the goals set by its military and political leadership,» he said.
Specifically, Hnatov explained that the Russians have no success on the battlefield and cannot achieve their goals through diplomacy due to their own unwillingness.
Therefore, according to the Chief of the General Staff, Moscow is left with only one option — to terrorize Ukrainians, namely by trying to destabilize the situation inside the country.
Thus, he said, the enemy is counting on negative social dynamics that could serve their objectives.
Furthermore, Hnatov, who is part of the Ukrainian negotiation delegation, stated that Ukraine currently sees no actions by the Russian leadership toward ending the war.
