Tomahawks for Ukraine: Expert explains how Kyiv could obtain US missiles despite launcher shortage

Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine

Ukraine could field US Tomahawk cruise missiles despite the very limited number of standard ground launchers in the US armed forces.

Professor Ihor Aizenberg of Manhattan University said this on the air of KYIV24.

«There are two batteries (for land-based Tomahawk launches) in the US army, because these launchers only began serial production in 2024. There are very few of them, ” he said.

At the same time, Aizenberg believes that this scarcity is not an insurmountable obstacle to supplying Tomahawks to Ukraine.

The expert stresses that Ukrainian engineers have repeatedly demonstrated outstanding abilities in military-technical adaptation. They have successfully developed and modified mobile launcher solutions for other types of foreign missiles.

Thus, even in the absence of a large number of standard US launchers, the technical barriers can be overcome by developing Ukrainian-adapted mobile launch complexes for Tomahawk. That would open the way to strengthening the Armed Forces’ long-range strike capabilities.
