Austrian Foreign Minister Calls Putin's Nuclear Threats "Absolute Madness"

Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg believes that not all levels of escalation in Russia's war against Ukraine have been reached yet. After all, Russian President and dictator Vladimir Putin continues to wield his “nuclear big stick”, as Schallenberg said in his interview with Der Standard.

According to him, both sides will likely try to launch spring offensives.

"We should fear that not all levels of escalation have been reached yet. The fact that the President of the Russian Federation continues to more or less openly brandish a “nuclear big stick” is absolute madness," he emphasized.

The Austrian Foreign Minister notes that Vienna's approach, according to which nuclear weapons should be banned completely and everywhere, is correct. After all, as long as it exists, someone will threaten with it.

"This also shows the degree of irresponsibility of the Russian leadership," Schallenberg said.
