In order to achieve parity or even gain an advantage in combat operations in the air, ten modern fighter jets are not enough for the Ukrainian army.

This was emphasized in an exclusive interview with TSN.ua by military expert, reserve major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Hetman.

According to him, the enemy currently has more than 2,000 different aircraft - attack aircraft, bomber aircraft, not counting strategic ones.

"For us to have parity, and even better - superiority in the air, 7-10 aircraft won't make any difference. We need at least several hundred... I think 300-400, up to 500 aircraft are necessary," the expert thinks.

At the same time, he noted that Ukraine's Western partners have the capability to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the necessary number of modern fighter jets.

"In the combat units of our [allied] countries, there are more than 3,000 aircraft. So, if we receive even 10 percent of these aircraft from these countries, specifically F-16s, then these 300 aircraft would be sufficient for us," states Oleksiy Hetman with confidence.
