Russia's blockade of the Black Sea and Ukrainian ports not only hampers the export of Ukrainian grain but also has the potential to impact the heating season.

This is stated in the article by "RBC-Ukraine".

It's noted that Ukraine imports a significant portion of oil products and coal necessary for thermal power plants.

"Due to the lack of sea access, coal is transported via land corridors, which increases the cost of each ton of coal by at least twice," the article states.

Impact on metallurgy

The publication's journalists point out that the port blockade has significantly affected the mining and metallurgical complex, as well as enterprises in the non-ferrous metallurgy sector.

According to the publication, the export of titanium and zirconium ores and concentrates fell by 43% in 2022. The import of bauxite - aluminum ore necessary for aluminum production - dropped by 82% in 2022.

"Thus, Ukraine not only lost the ability to export products: we are losing the ability to produce these products. In addition, Ukrainian pipe industry, which reduced its production by nearly -40% due to the blockade, chemical industry and agrochemistry, which can't export fertilizers, suffer millions in losses " the article states.
