How many Patriot systems does Ukraine need for full protection: Zelenskyy named the exact number

Ukraine needs 25 Patriot systems to completely secure its skies. Currently, there is a positive decision from partners for five air defense systems, which Kyiv is expecting.

This was stated by President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a press conference on July 15.

According to the Head of State, Ukraine will also receive dozens of other systems and missiles.

"As a result of the NATO summit, we have positive decisions regarding the strengthening of our air defense. Additionally, we will receive five Patriot systems from our partners, as well as dozens of HAWK, NASAMS, SAMP-T systems and missiles," Zelenskyy said.

According to the President, to completely secure the skies, Ukraine needs 25 Patriot systems, which are the highest tier in Ukraine's air defense system since the Patriot can shoot down ballistic missiles.

"Europe has given us all it could in terms of air defense. There are still a few countries that can provide more, and we are working on it - we have positive signals," the President added.

While Warsaw is considering the possibility of shooting down Russian missiles heading towards Poland while they are still in Ukrainian airspace, NATO has dismissed this idea.

Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that it would be the correct action for neighboring Poland to shoot down Russian missiles that are headed towards Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
