Interceptor drones are not a universal solution against all aerial targets. They are a precise tool, effective against slow-moving objects.

Aviation expert Bohdan Dolintse said this during a broadcast of «Vechir.LIVE, ” debunking the myth of their omnipotence.

According to Bohdan Dolintse, the primary mission of such drones is to combat aerial targets moving at low speeds (up to 200–250 km/h) and low altitudes (from 2 to 4 km). This category includes reconnaissance drones and attack drones like the «Shahed.»

«We must understand that interceptor drones are not a panacea. Essentially, their key targets are aerial objects flying at low altitudes and low speeds, ” the expert emphasizes.

He categorically dismissed the possibility of effectively using interceptor drones against cruise or ballistic missiles, as well as against guided aerial bombs, which Russia is using extensively.

«This does not include any types of ballistic weapons, nor does it include guided aerial bombs or other types of strike weapons that the enemy is using en masse, ” Dolintse added, stressing that interceptor drones are micro-airspace defense systems with a short range, typically 5–10 km.

The expert also warned that Russia may shift to using faster and more expensive drones, which would make the task of intercepting them significantly more challenging for Ukraine.
