Over the past week, the Russians struck Ukrainian Territorial Centers of Recruitment or nearby locations three times, including with drones. As is known, the attacks damaged TCR premises in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, and today, July 3, two buildings in Poltava — the city and regional TCRs.

Military expert and former SSU employee Ivan Stupak shared his perspective on Russia’s new overarching goal in a comment to TSN.ua.

«In this way, Russia is trying to kill as many military personnel as possible. The Russians know that there were at least a dozen servicemen in those buildings at that address. They were absolutely certain of it, ” Stupak says.

He continues: «They are also attacking district police departments. I think their logic is: the more Ukrainian people in uniform die, the better for Russia. There may also be an attempt to disrupt mobilization, but two damaged TCR buildings will not paralyze mobilization work.»

Ivan Stupak does not rule out, with a high degree of probability, that such strikes will continue.

«Perhaps the Russians have a plan with certain targets they are trying to meet. This is something for which they can receive awards in Russia. Besides the fact that TCRs, which operate around the clock, have staff, there are also mobilized citizens there. By striking TCRs, the Russians are counting on mobilized individuals trying to flee from these premises.»

According to the Ukrainian Ground Forces, for example, in Poltava, fires broke out at the sites of the strikes, and there were casualties and injuries (TCR premises are usually located deep within residential areas). According to the regional police, the strikes on the city killed two people, and the number of reported injuries reached 47 by the afternoon.

«Among the injured are civilians, two TCR employees, and two servicemen. Russia has chosen this tactic, targeting TCRs. They are trying to disrupt mobilization processes. But it’s too early for them to open champagne. The buildings are damaged, but the work continues, ” Vitaliy Sarantsev, spokesman for the Ukrainian Ground Forces, told TSN.ua.
