The Russian occupiers may soon attempt to expand the front line in Kharkiv region or even attack Sumy region.
This opinion was expressed by military expert, Head of the Center for Military and Legal Studies, Oleksandr Musienko on the air of the telethon.
A threat to Sumy region
"The next intention of the Russian troops... They may try at some point to further expand the front in Kharkiv region if they bring in more troops, or even attack Sumy region. Why? Not to capture Sumy right now," the expert noted.
Musienko explains that Russia is currently interested in stretching our front. The occupiers understand that Western ammunition and weapons are gradually arriving. Therefore, the Russians aim to create multiple points of tension where this weaponry will need to be distributed, thus preventing Ukraine from concentrating the necessary amount where the main strikes might occur.
The "Plan A" and "Plan B" of the Russian military leadership.
"What does this mean? It means that in such a situation, when they come here, there... they need to be driven out from there. To drive them out, what is needed for that – resources, forces, means, ammunition... They have "Plan A": to break through into the depths of Ukrainian territory as much as they can. If this plan fails... they will stop, they cannot be in an offensive forever.
Then "Plan B" comes: to create such problems for our forces now so that we use up that reserve and we do not form a reserve, which will be needed to intercept the initiative," the analyst noted.
The phase of positional warfare
In his opinion, this indicates the intentions of the Russian command to create a phase of positional warfare, where they cannot advance, but neither can we. And then it is important who will use the pause in positional warfare and accumulate resources more quickly.
"In this way, they want to hedge and protect themselves from Ukraine seizing the initiative... What should be done in this situation? We simply need to turn to our partners and say: "Listen, there is the initiative of French President Macron regarding the deployment of troops. Bring troops to the west, to the center of Ukraine, help us." And then the air defense systems and the aviation of our partners will appear near these troops," Musienko concluded.
