Russian forces have intensified their assault operations in southern Ukraine, particularly on the Prydniprovsk axis. The invaders are attempting to occupy islands to further threaten Kherson.

This was reported by Spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, during a telethon.

He says that in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, the Russian army is conducting missile, air, and drone attacks on Ukrainian Armed Forces' positions and nearby settlements. Voloshyn noted that particularly intense assault attempts are occurring in the island zone on the Prydniprovsk axis.

"The enemy conducts assaults and strikes with unmanned aerial vehicles and daily airstrikes. We can confirm that no fewer than 5-7, or even up to 10 assault actions are happening daily, using watercraft such as boats. We destroy several of these units every day," the spokesperson stated.

The Russian army is attempting to capture the islands of Velykyi, Bilohrudy, and Kozatskyi, located along the frontline opposite Kherson. These territories are under Ukrainian fire control, so there is currently no immediate threat of a breakthrough from the Dnipro River near Kherson.

However, there are isolated attempts by the enemy to advance through certain straits and seize individual islands. According to Voloshyn, the Russians are conducting reconnaissance missions to locate Ukrainian defensive positions.
