Lately, the Russian occupiers have changed their tactics in the use of "Shahed" type combat drones.
The new things invented by the Russians were revealed by the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Serhii Naiev, in an interview with "RBC-Ukraine".
According to him, the occupiers continue to use "Shaheds" mainly at night at low altitudes.
"However, the routes are constantly changing. The enemy is trying to use drones taking into account the topography of the area," says Naiev.
The General explained that "Shaheds" are difficult to shoot down, because it is difficult to establish the exact route of their flight for timely response by mobile fire groups.
Naiev confirmed that the detection of "Shahed" drones is primarily conducted acoustically (based on engine sound).
"Determining their flight direction during nighttime is quite difficult. Without visual contact, destroying an aerial target without knowing its exact position in the airspace is a complex task. However, it should be noted that we are striving to cope with it. The systems that autonomously detect aerial targets using radar, have an advantage," explains the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
