Russia is preparing "smart" drones: Expert on new threat to Ukraine

Experts warn: the enemy is adapting, and there’s no time to delay a response. The Russian occupiers are continuously upgrading kamikaze drones like the "Shahed", aiming to make them more resistant to Ukraine’s countermeasures, including electronic warfare (EW) and air defense systems.

This was stated by military analyst Denys Popovych during a broadcast on Radio NV.

According to him, the Russians’ main goal is to ensure drones can safely reach their targets despite Ukraine’s efforts to intercept or divert them.

“For the enemy, it’s critical that these drones reach their targets and aren’t suppressed or diverted off course. A new antenna allows them to distinguish the correct signal among false ones and stay on course. This means the enemy is actively countering our EW systems,” the expert notes.

Popovych also points out that Russian specialists are working to counter Ukrainian satellite systems, which generate fake coordinates or disrupt communication with UAVs.

“They (the enemy) are developing specific technologies for this. It’s a wake-up call, and we need to address it,” the military analyst emphasizes.
