The Kremlin will not agree to begin negotiations with Ukraine until Russian troops reach the administrative border of Donetsk region.
This opinion was expressed by military analyst Andriy Kramarov, as reported by "Kyiv 24."
According to him, the key goal for Russia is to capture Pokrovsk, as this would give them an advantage to advance towards Sloviansk.
"After that, they expect to repeat the situation that occurred after the capture of Avdiivka, when the Russians entered the operational space from which they started moving. With an army that has an advantage in numbers, it is easier for them to move across a large operational area. If they capture Pokrovsk, they could continue moving towards Sloviansk because they will gain operational space beyond Pokrovsk. The situation there is very difficult," Kramarov explains.
Furthermore, the expert emphasized the importance for the Kremlin of reaching the administrative borders of Donetsk region.
"After that, they might stop and say, 'We started the special military operation to liberate Donbas." And that would become their "political agenda" to start negotiations. They will not begin negotiations until they reach the administrative borders of Donetsk region," Andriy Kramarov says.
