The Russian army is first trying to cut off all logistical routes to Pokrovsk in Donetsk region and only then launch an assault on the city itself. As part of this operation, Russian forces may enter the territory of Dnipropetrovsk region.

This was reported by military analyst Denys Popovych on the air of "Espreso".

According to him, the situation around Pokrovsk is "not a semi-encirclement, but it is tense."

"The Russian occupying army is currently conducting an operation to encircle Pokrovsk. Their immediate goal is to cut off all logistical routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Pokrovsk that lead to Dnipropetrovsk region. As part of these actions, Russian forces may enter the territory of Dnipropetrovsk region. This is a reality we will likely have to get used to, as the enemy continues to exert pressure on our positions there," Popovych explained.

He noted that Russian troops are searching for weak points in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses in the Pokrovsk direction and are trying to advance in such areas of the front.

"Currently, this advance is taking place toward Dnipropetrovsk region. Therefore, as part of their flanking maneuver, they may enter the territory of Dnipropetrovsk region," Popovych added.
