Four countries do not want to see Ukraine in NATO.

There are four countries that do not want to see Ukraine in NATO: the United States, Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary. However, the decision of whether the country will join the Alliance ultimately depends on U.S. President Donald Trump.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council in Davos.

"Most of the NATO countries support Ukraine's membership in NATO, but four countries do not. However, in all of these countries, it all depends on the United States. Countries always want to be leaders. But the NATO issue specifically depends on the U.S. and the position of the President. If Trump is ready to see Ukraine in NATO, then it will be in NATO. Everyone will be "for". If Trump is not ready to see Ukraine in NATO, it will not be there," the President said.

According to him, some countries initially pursued an opaque policy towards Ukraine and did not support its NATO membership.

"These were just untrue words that Ukraine would be in NATO, because decades passed and Ukraine still was not a NATO member. That was dishonest," Zelenskyy said.

The U.S. and Germany had a weak position regarding Ukraine's NATO membership and engaged in dialogue with the Russians on this matter. However, they probably lost that dialogue, Zelenskyy noted, because they always appeal to past agreements with Russia.
