Zelenskyy questions Europe's role in post-war negotiations

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed doubts about whether Europe would have a role in negotiations once the war in Ukraine ends.
Zelenskyy made this statement during his speech at the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos.
"It is not clear whether Europe will even have a seat at the table when the war against our country ends. We’re deeply grateful to Europe for all the support it’s given our country during this war. But will President Trump listen to Europe, or will he negotiate with Russia and China without Europe?
Europe needs to learn how to fully take care of itself, so that the world can’t afford to ignore it," Zelenskyy stated.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining unity among European countries, as the world views Europe as a unified entity.
"And we need a common European defense and security policy, and all European politicians must be ready to spend money on defense," the Ukrainian President added.
