The statement by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi about the beginning of a Russian offensive in Kharkiv and Sumy regions was directed at Ukraine’s allies.
This was stated by military expert Serhii Grabarskyi in a comment to NV.
“One should not take General Syrskyi’s phrase out of context, but look at how it was expressed and in what sequence. The first sentence General Syrskyi said was: "Against the backdrop of ongoing negotiations, the enemy has begun offensive actions in the territory of Kharkiv and Sumy regions." That’s close to the original wording,” the expert noted.
He emphasizes that the statement was meant to demonstrate that Russia has no intention of ending the war.
“This statement is primarily directed toward our allies — in order to once again underscore and draw attention to the fact that Russia does not intend to end this war, that the war will continue despite the goodwill being expressed for various reasons, for example, by the American side,” Grabarskyi added.
The expert stresses that Syrskyi holds a political position and must make political statements aimed at a broad audience, including the international community.
Recall, Syrsky stated about the threat of an attack from Belarus.
