Kurt Volker is convinced that Ukraine's success in the counteroffensive will serve as another stimulus for the United States to continue providing even greater support to the country.

According to the former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, the counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be successful, but the war will not end there and will continue for a considerable time.

Volker expressed this opinion in an interview with "RBK-Ukraine."

The former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine agreed with the opinion that expectations from the Ukrainian counteroffensive are somewhat overheated.

"I agree, I think people are putting too much hope in this one stage. Yes, there will be a counteroffensive. Yes, it will be successful for Ukraine, but this is not the end. Don't think that everything will end after that. Ukraine will have to rebuild, strengthen the army, strengthen the economy and continue the war for a long time, and we need to be ready for this as well," Volker predicts.

He also answered the question to what extent the support of Ukraine from the US and the West in general depends on the success of the counteroffensive. Thus, the former special representative noted that today support for Ukraine is very strong from both US political parties, both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, in the presidential administration and among the public as well.

"Next year, we have presidential elections, so we will be distracted by our own affairs. So I think the counteroffensive will cause another influx of aid this year so we don't have to go through that next year during our presidential election. And of course Ukraine's success in the counteroffensive will be another incentive for the US to continue to provide even greater support to Ukraine," Volker said.
