DTEK predicts a harder winter than last year
Experts predict a harder winter in 2023-2024 in Ukraine than last year due to the potential mass shelling of the energy system by Russian aggressors. However, both the military and energy sector are prepared to respond to such threats.
This was stated by Maxim Timchenko, the head of the DTEK energy holding, during a press conference on October 11.
"This winter will probably be more difficult than the last. Not only we are preparing, but also our enemies. I think the strikes will be more intense. In addition, we have smaller reserves of power due to previous shelling," he said.
At the same time, the head of the DTEK energy holding emphasized that while air defense systems may be insufficient for the potential intensity of attacks, the situation with this type of protection has been improving since last year and continues to improve every month.
"On the other hand, we have learned a lot, and even for situations like what happened on November 23 (blackout), we have found solutions," Timchenko noted.
