Zelenskyy appealed to the Iranians regarding the Russian terror with ‘Shahed’ drones

He shared this information in his evening address.

The head of state said that our soldiers have downed nearly 900 of these drones as of today. In total, approximately 1160 Shahed drones have been used against Ukraine.

The President stated that the government and the military are currently continuously seeking tools to make the number of downed Iranian drones complete.

"But today, considering the fact that such strikes continue constantly, I would like to address directly to the people of Iran. To everyone - to society, to Iranian ulama, to every Iranian family, to those people who are able to influence state decisions in Iran. A simple question: Why would you want to be accomplices to Russian terror? Why are you on the side of the evil state? The world sees what is happening, and all of you in Iran see it too. The support of evil cannot be denied," Zelenskyy said.

He mentioned that Ukrainians have skills to shoot down the majority of the kamikaze drones that Iran provides to Russia, but there are still instances of hits.

"When an Iranian drone kills a pregnant Ukrainian girl together with her husband in their own home, what does it bring you, mothers and fathers in Iran? When your 'Shahed' strikes a dormitory with our students, people die, fires start, rescuers arrive at the scene, and within minutes, another 'Shahed' strikes, taking the lives of those who were saving the lives of others... What do you gain from such cynical killings? Done by Russia's hands, but with your own weapon. What do you, the people in Tehran, or in Shiraz, or in Sakez, or in any other city of your country, gain from this?" the President said.

Zelenskyy stated that Iran and Russia only face increased international isolation and more problems from terrorist attacks.

"For Russia, everything is a target. Homes, schools, hospitals, places of worship, churches, power plants, markets, even humanitarian aid distribution points and bus stops... There are already thousands of such examples. People of Iran! Russia strikes everything indiscriminately. With artillery and mortars, missiles and drones - with whatever they have and with what Russia is given on your behalf. I am confident that you should be on the other side of the story - not with the evil," Zelenskyy said.

He also reminded that Russia is conducting a neo-colonial war with the aim of subjugating an entire nation.

"Russia even kidnaps people - our children! Thousands and thousands... Only absolute evil can steal children of another nation. And in their aggression against Ukrainians, Russian occupiers destroy all other national communities that have lived on Ukrainian land for centuries. That is why there is evidence of Russian-burned Greek-Christian villages and Russia's systematic repression against the Crimean Tatar people - our Ukrainian Muslim community," the President stated.

Zelenskyy added that the Iranian ‘Shahed’ drones, which terrorize Ukraine every night, only signify that the people of Iran are being pushed deeper and deeper into the dark side of history.
