President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirms that negotiations are ongoing for a large-scale prisoner exchange under the “1000-for-1000” formula but emphasizes that children cannot be part of such negotiations. He made these remarks during a press conference.

“We are discussing the exchange of prisoners of war today, and there have been signals from our side regarding political prisoners and journalists. But exchanging children for military personnel — we do not support such an approach,” Zelenskyy said during the briefing.

The President stressed that the return of children must be unconditional.

“This is unfair and beyond the law, even beyond the laws of war,” he added.

According to Zelenskyy, a special group led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence agencies, is handling the exchange process.
