Zelenskyy reacted to Macron's idea of an "Olympic truce"
Zelenskyy reminded that before the full-scale invasion, Ukraine had already agreed to a cease-fire, but Russia had always violated the agreements.
Zelenskyy does not believe that Russia will adhere to the "Olympic truce" regime
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy doubts that the occupiers will adhere to the truce proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron during the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The head of state said this in an interview with the well-known French journalist-blogger Hugo Travers (HugoDécrypte).
"I don't believe in this with Russia. Not in this format – in truce in general. I don't believe in any format of truce with Russia. This is a lie, and Emmanuel knows this, he himself is a witness to it. We were together in the Normandy format, we went through the Minsk process together. France, Germany, Ukraine – we are all living witnesses to the fact that there cannot be a frozen conflict with Russia," Zelenskyy replied.
The President is confident that Putin would use such a pause to regroup and strengthen his forces, to then strike again and "destroy us".
The head of state reminded that even during the Normandy format agreements, the parties declared a cease-fire regime, but after that there were still shelling. In particular, Russia used groups of snipers and fired at Ukrainian soldiers on the front line.
"They simply went hunting... and killed our people with sniper shots every day, despite the cease-fire," he noted.
"For Putin, there is no cease-fire, no Olympics, no authorities," Zelenskyy summed up.
