Zelenskyy reacts to strikes on Kyiv and Odesa: «Possessed maniacs with Shaheds and the red button»

Russia launched strikes on Kyiv and Odesa during the night of Tuesday, June 10. As a result of the enemy attack, the Saint Sophia Cathedral in the capital was damaged. In Odesa, a maternity hospital, the film studio, and the zoo were hit. According to President Zelensky, such catastrophic destruction can only be the «meaning of existence» for Russia — a country that produces nothing and only knows how to destroy human lives and historical values.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address to the nation.

«Today’s Russian strike damaged ordinary residential buildings in various regions of Ukraine. In Odesa, a maternity hospital was hit. The Odesa Film Studio suffered major damage — decades of history destroyed. In the capital, even Saint Sophia Cathedral was damaged, ” the President said.

He added that part of the cathedral’s facade collapsed due to the blast wave — something unacceptable and catastrophic for anyone who knows history or has any connection to Christianity. However, everyone also knows that the destruction of cultural, religious, or historical monuments means nothing to Russians.

«Any threat of damage or destruction to Saint Sophia is utterly unacceptable, indeed catastrophic. But not for Russia. Possessed maniacs with their „Shaheds“ and the red button. Catastrophe is the very purpose of their existence. They produce nothing else — and will leave nothing behind, ” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
