Zhdanov About Missile Strikes: Bombing Strategy Was Adopted by New Russian Army Commander
The expert believes that missile strikes will be Surovikin’s siganture strategy.
Military expert Oleh Zhdanov believes that the indiscriminate bombings of Ukrainian infrastructure is a signature strategy adopted by the new commander of Russian forces in Ukraine Gen. Sergey Surovikin. Therefore, the missile strike threat will not go away any time soon.
"Most likely, the missile activity recently demonstrated by Russian military will only increase. I don’t think they will eb able to repeat anything like yesterday anytime soon through. In order to do so, they need to ship another batch of missiles to the airfields and get them ready for launch. For example, K-22 missile is liquid-fuel type. It has to be filled with highly toxic rocket fuel. I mean this is a very special technical operation to be performed only by trained personnel. However, they still have Kalibr, Kh-101, Kh-55 and other missiles to be used in Ukraine”, Zhdanov stresses.
According to him, the “signature strategy of Surovikin’s military campaign” will be missile strikes, but “without air classic air raids”.
"I don’t think that their bombers will dare to enter our airspace. We have highly efficient and well-organized air defence system, while missile defence system is still a significant gap", the expert says.
According to him, Gen. Surovikin considers missile strikes as his way to achieve victories. He was the one who practiced carpet bombings in Georgia and Syria. Now he wants Ukraine to surrender. However, this strategy won’t likely yield much results, because the outcome of this war will be decided on the battlefield, Zhdanov believes.
