In May, Russian businessman Roman Abramovich visited Kyiv, during which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a personal message to Vladimir Putin through him.
This was reported by 24 Kanal.
Zelenskyy said that Roman Abramovich fully understood the Ukrainian side and committed to delivering these points to the Kremlin leadership. However, the actual prospects of such mediation meet with skepticism due to the nature of decision-making in Moscow.
"It is not about whether he is an intermediary or not; I think he [Putin] is simply using him. He has his own decision, a decision inside his head," Zelenskyy stressed.
Who determines the outcome of negotiations
Zelenskyy noted that Abramovich could serve as an intermediary, but that depends entirely on Putin.
"Each country must decide who will represent them, whether at the technical level or at the level of national security advisors," the president concluded.
