Capture of Chinese citizens: Ukrainian MFA responds

Ukraine has strongly condemned the participation of Chinese citizens in Russia’s war against Ukraine. In particular, this undermines trust in China as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
This was reported by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
“We strongly condemn Russia’s involvement of Chinese citizens in its aggressive war against Ukraine, as well as their participation in combat operations against Ukrainian forces,” the statement reads.
Sybiha noted that the Chinese chargé d'affaires in Ukraine was summoned to the MFA to condemn this fact and to obtain an explanation.
“The participation of Chinese citizens in the Russian invasion army in Ukraine calls into question China’s declared position on peace and undermines trust in Beijing as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council,” the minister added.
