Putin staged a «show» for Trump: Presidential Office explains what it’s about
Western partners must strengthen their support for Ukraine, particularly in terms of air defense systems and missiles, in order to destroy Putin’s belief in the possibility of a Russian victory over Ukraine.

Yesterday, June 18, Putin staged a «talk show» specifically for President Trump and held a press conference at a time convenient for viewing across the ocean. He persistently and brazenly repeated his demands for Ukraine’s de facto capitulation. Putin’s main message was that a meeting with Trump and Zelenskyy is only possible if the West agrees to Ukraine’s capitulation.
This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Podolyak emphasizes that the window of opportunity for negotiations with Russia — which the White House still considered open — was demonstratively closed by the Kremlin.
«Putin irrationally believes that even after more than three years of a bloody and large-scale war, he can still achieve total victory. His confidence has recently been bolstered by the intensification of mass missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, targeting exclusively civilians,» said the adviser.
He added that it is clear that without a significant strengthening of Ukraine’s air defenses with modern Western systems, and without an increase in Ukraine’s missile capabilities, bringing the Russians back to the negotiating table will be extremely difficult.
