As the United States eases sanctions on Russia, Moscow is providing Iran with satellite intelligence, including data on American bases in the Middle East, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during an online briefing with journalists.
He noted that while outside Ukraine, he receives intelligence updates daily in real time and cited the latest report indicating that Russian satellites were photographing military sites belonging to the United States and its partners in the region.
According to the Ukrainian president, the list of identified targets includes:
Diego Garcia airbase (Indian Ocean);
Kuwait International Airport and the Greater Burgan oil field;
Prince Sultan Air Base (Saudi Arabia);
Shaybah oil and gas field (Saudi Arabia);
Incirlik Air Base (Turkey);
Al Udeid Air Base (Qatar);
selected facilities near Haifa (Israel).
Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian facilities were not included in the list.
The Ukrainian president stressed that following the easing of U.S. sanctions, Russia is not only gaining additional funds for its war against Ukraine. The Kremlin could also pass intelligence data for potential strikes on facilities in regions hosting U.S. and allied bases.
"The aggressor must be contained through pressure, not through the easing of sanctions," Zelenskyy said.
