The world must respond to aggressor Russia if its peace efforts turn out to be “theatrical.” Kyiv seeks a ceasefire.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the European Political Community summit in Albania, according to Sky News.

“The world must react — a strong response is needed, including sanctions against Russia's energy sector and banks. Pressure must continue to grow until real progress is achieved,” the President said.

The Head of State reiterated calls for a ceasefire “for a sufficiently long period to give diplomacy a real chance.” According to him, Ukraine's priority is a complete, unconditional, and honest ceasefire.

“This must happen immediately to stop the killings and create a solid foundation for diplomacy. If Russian representatives in Istanbul today can't even agree to this — to a ceasefire — then it will be 100% clear that Putin continues to undermine diplomacy,” the Ukrainian President emphasized.

Zelenskyy also pointed out that Russia sent to Istanbul “almost the same people as in 2022.” This, according to the Head of State, indicates that Moscow “has not changed its fundamental approach.”

“They are doing everything possible to turn this Istanbul meeting into a staged, empty process. Just like in 2022,” Zelenskyy said.
