Representatives of the aggressor state, Russia, are afraid of direct negotiations about ending the war.
President Zelenskyy stated this today, April 22, in a conversation with journalists.
“As for the Russians, I’ve said this before. I believe they are afraid of direct negotiations,” the Head of State said.
Zelenskyy admits that he doesn’t know what signals the Russians are currently sending — whether they’re afraid that the Americans will withdraw from the negotiation format, or perhaps they’re acting in a way to provoke the Americans to withdraw.
“I don’t know. I have my own conclusions, and I’ll keep them to myself. But regarding any negotiations — where is the result?” the President asked rhetorically.
The Head of State assures that if a full ceasefire is established and there is clarity on the duration of the truce, Ukraine is ready for any format of negotiations with Russia.
